Up for auction is an OEM zebrano woodconsole (or gearshift) cover to fit the later series of W123-body Mercedes-Benz cars. The W123 models include the 1977-1985 model year diesel-powered 240D and 300D sedans, 300CD coupe, and 300TD wagon,thegasoline-powered 280E sedan and 280CE coupe of those years, and various other equivalentEuropean-market model numbers, but this is intended to fit the later years (starting with about 1981 or 1982, depending on the model) with the thinner-style power window switches, the smaller hazard flasher switch, and the right power mirror switch. For the most part, this fits the turbo diesels (300D, 300CD, and 300TD) from about 1982-1985, though it may fit some of the other W123 models of that era as well., depending on the options the car was equipped with. Please compare the switch cutouts with the ones in your car to ensure that this is the right piece for you.If you have one of these cars, you know that on many of these cars the wood console is badly cracked and delaminated from sun/age, often with exposed wood. This one was that way at one time, but has had all of the damagedlacquer painstakingly stripped off and refinished withseveral coats of new lacquer. There were a few surface chips in the wood finish originally, but while these are still visible to the eye, they have been lacquered overand the surface is now smooth and sealed. While this one is not perfect it is in better shape than most, as you can see by the pictures.Having been refinished, there are no lacquercracks, delamination,or peeling. Also, since it has 21st Century technology lacquer on it, you can probably expect it to last longer than the original, early 1980s technology lacquer surface! The plastic pin on the underside of the cover that holds the piece in place, which is more often than not broken off on these, is in placeon this one and intact.Again, it isn't perfect, but it's priced accordingly--the last time I had one to sell in original condition with no lacquer cracks at all, I sold it in an open auction here on eBay and it got bid up to a price of over $250! I'm pricing this one at barely one-third of that, for a good "driver" quality refinished piece.

Considering how prominently these are displayed in the interior of a W123 Mercedes, a good zebrano console cover is essential to the faithful restoration of your vintage Mercedes, but good ones are hard to find these days. This will really dress up your vintage Benz if your car has the typical badly-damaged or delaminated console cover.Shipping within the U.S. will be $13 by fast USPS Priority Mail.
