This is a fully restored set of4 AMG wheels for a Mercedes. These were removed from aW126 and were in rough looking shape, with chrome pealing off of them.Theywere stripped, straightened,and prepared fora full restoration. Here are the details:
- AMG HAMMER AERO
- 17x8
- Offset = 11mm
- Backspacing = 4 7/8 inches
- Bolt Pattern = 5x112
- Center Bore = 66.5mm
- Made in 1990 inGermany
The restoration included the following:
- Chemical strip to removeold chrome.
- Mechanical trueing to repair bends inall4 wheels.
- I have spun eachwheel on a balancer and verified that it is 100% trued and straight.
Any curb rash was blended away and the lips were polished using high speed polishers and the correct compounds to achieve the mirror shine you see in the photos. Note there are some pits in the base of portions of the lips as a result of oxidation from prior chrome.
- Eachwheel was then primered, sanded, and then painted witha metallic silver paint followed by a clear coat.All surfaces of the wheels were painted except for the polished lips and the mounting pad areas. The paint color closely matches the original AMG silver wheel paint color There are no flaws that I can see in the paint. The original AMG metal center caps (3 of them) and one plastic cap were painted to match.Theplastic cap fits a little loose so I installed several rounds of electrical tape to keep the cap in place.
I have included at least1 photo of each wheel so you can see all thedetails. This is about as good as you will find for restored vintage wheels. Note there are some very minor imperfections which an inevitable when restoring 30year old wheels.
Packaging. I generally ship wheels in pairs so this set will go out in 2 boxes. Each pair is double-boxed, with rigid foam material between each box. This adds some cost, but my wheels never get damaged in transit.__________________________________________________________________________________
