This interface connects to the back of yourfactory radio. The cablethat connects it to your radio is a T-harness, so it has a plug toallow you, in most cases, to retain a factory auxiliary input currentlyconnected to the radio. (DVD player, etc) The interface will not bevisible from inside the car, with the exception of any cables you happento route to the interior in order to connect/use external devices.(Bluetooth, USB, iPod and Aux, for example) Thisproduct operates in satellite (SAT) emulation mode so you MUST have anAM SAT or SAT button. Further, you must not have a RADIO button or anXM logo. When used with the USB to 30-pin (or USB to Lightning, in the case of the newer Apple products) cable that came with your iPod/iPhone/iPad, text such as playlist,track name, artist and album name is displayed on the radio and you can control the iPod from the radio. This includes: track up/down, playlist selection, shuffle modes, scan and repeat.Somecontrol is also enabled for the steering wheel controls. 5 volt charging is also provided through the USB to iPod cable. You will probably want to use the included USB cable extension (and mounting bracket, if you so desire) to locate the USB female port close at hand.Then you\'ll connect your iPod/iPhone to that using the USB to Apple connector you already own.
Bluetooth
The built-in Bluetooth interfaceallows you to directly connect your Bluetooth-ready phone, provided your phone supports Hands-Free Profiles (HFP). (Most Bluetooth phones from the last couple years do. Check the literature for your phone if you are concerned.)You simply clip the included microphone on your visor (or some other common senselocation.) To make or receive a call, you enter satellite radiomode on your radio. (For most radios, this is as simple as a press of the AM SATbutton.) For incoming calls, Caller ID will be displayed on the radio. You just press a button to accept the call. For outbound calls,you can dial using your phone\'s voice recognition (VR) feature, if so equipped. (iPhone, Android and some non-smartphones support VR.) When engaged in a call, you\'ll hear the call audio through the car radio and the microphone will pick up your end of the conversation. You can also listen to music from your iPhone or Android phone through the Bluetooth device using the A2DP streaming*. This is handy if you want to use theUSB port for a thumb-drive (or some other purpose.) Basic track forward \'skipping\' is also supported in streaming audio mode. For iPhones/iPods/iPads that support Bluetooth, song title and artist text is also displayed on the radio. *** The Bluetooth portion of this kit is guaranteed to be compatible with the iPhone*, iPhone 3G, 3Gs, 4, 4S, 5, 5C and 5S. (*However, the 1st Gen iPhone does not support A2DP streaming audio.) It should work with any other Bluetooth capable phone produced in the last couple years. Unfortunately there are FAR too many other phone variations for us orthe manufacturer to test every one, so we can\'t answer questions regarding specific phones. USB
Don\'t have an iPod or iPhone? No problem! This product has a dedicated USBplug that supports use of USB thumb-drives up to 32GB and up to 8,000MP3 format songs. There\'s even an included 6 foot extension cable with adash-mount bracket so you can plug your thumb-drive in at an easy toaccess location. Oryou can drill a 3/4\" hole anywhere in your dash to give it a factory appearance. Song text (metadata) is displayed on the radio from the MP3files on the USB thumb-drive. 2.1 amp charging is also supplied through the USB port, so your device will stay juiced up while the vehicle is on.
Auxiliary
This interface includes an auxiliary(aux) inputcable so you can add another device. (mp3 player, satellite radio, CDchanger, DVD player, etc). You can choose from RCA jacks OR a stereomini headphone style plug. Those are the two most common connectiontypes so it should accommodate connection of just about anything.
SiriusXM satellite radio (Equipment included)
You will use one of the extra ports to add SiriusXMsatellite radio. You will get the Audiovox SXV200*SiriusXM tuner kit and the iSimple ISSR12 cable as part of this package. With this additional equipment, your radio will display song, artist andstation text for all subscribed SiriusXM stations, just like a factory kit. You will also be able to control the satelliteradio right from yourfactory radio or the matching steering wheel control buttons, if so equipped. No ugly dash-mounted tuners with this kit!Sirius and XM have merged into one company and SiriusXM is their new combined service. Older Sirius and XM tuners (like the SCC1) are being discontinued. It is possible XM-specificand Sirius-specific programming will be done away with or made more expensive in the future as an incentive to switch to SiriusXM. Don\'t get caught with an old tuner that is limited or locks you into higher pricing. These new SiriusXM tuners are capable of getting all the normal channels that used to be on XM/Sirius, as well as all the premiumchannels that used to be Sirius or XM specific. (Additional subscription fees apply for premium programming, of course.)
HD Radio (Additional equipment required - not included)
You can also use a port to add HD Radioinstead of the auxiliary cable. You will need theHDRT tuner package to do this. It is not included. Some vehicles willalso require antenna adapters. The HDRT has standard motorola styleplugs on it. HD Radio is free CD quality radio that isbroadcast over the air-waves like AM and FM bands. Artist and song title text are displayed on the radio if it is text capable. There are hundredsof HD radio stations across the country. If you like the concept ofsatellite radio but don\'t want to pay the subscription fee, HD radio maybe the answer. You can find more information on the hdradio website. Remember, you cannothave more than two sources connected at the same time, not counting USB and Bluetooth.If you want toadd HD Radio, we encourage you to go to thepac-audio website and review the HDRT information or contact us with additional questions. There are many details about the optionalcomponents that are not addressed in this ad.Differences between this ISTY651 Connect and their ISTY571 GatewayDon\'tconfuse this ISTY651 Connect interface with their ISTY571 Gatewayinterface. You get far more connection options with this ISTY651.There are really a couple main advancements in the ISTY651 Connectinterface:
- iSimple added a dedicatedUSB port that can be used to play MP3 audio from a thumb-drive ORconnect your iPhone. There was no USB port on the older Gatewayinterface at all. (Other than a USB mini port that was reservedstrictly for updating the firmware.)
- Bluetoothis built in. With theolder Gateway interface, you had to use one of your two available portsfor an optional Bluetooth kit that cost extra money. This only left youwith one connection port. That limited you. If you wanted iPod,XM and Bluetooth all at the same time, for instance, you couldn\'t dothat with the Gateway. You can with this Connect interface.
