I bought these tires because Iknew going into this season that they would be a solid tire. I was not impressed with the resistance of the ZIIs I ran last year to overheating. The RS3-V2s have good heat resistance, I\'ve only just started using water on the outside edge of the tread in mid 90s temperatures. The old ZIIs required a full spraying to keep cool enough every run. I thought about the RE71Rs, but just didn\'t want to spend the money(guess I was wrong haha). Arguably the RS3-V2s are one of thebest budget autocross tires. Last I checked they were close to $200 cheaper for a set than the RE71Rs or ZII-SSs. They also have really good wear. After 7000 miles of street driving and 60 runs there is still plenty left in these tires. Even with low amounts of camber on the front, the wear is still even. These tires do not give much confidence in the rain and I haven\'t autocrossed in the rain yet, but going slow is a must in heavy downpours. The ZIIs gave much betterconfidence in the rain. They are fairly quiet and are comfortable for daily driving. Much better than the OEM RE050s.As far as actual autocross performance they are good, but not great. They have good feedback, decent transitionspeed although they do feel a bit sluggish sometimes, fairly stable and predictable at the limit of grip, but that limit is lower than the RE71Rs. They are quite pressure sensitive, but don\'t require much cooling as I\'ve said before. I\'ve heard that the RE71Rs are not pressure senstive. Next season I will be buying the RE71Rs even if I am risking the need for 2 sets a season, if you want to ever be competitive then you must use the RE71Rs. Cost be ----ed. They give better feedback, higher grip, and have better manners in the rain. The wholepoint of owning tires like this is because your top priority is autocross. If you are on a budget the RS3-V2s are great
Review from August 20, 2015Rating: 8These tires are great! I went from Mich PS2\'s (good tire) to the Hankook RS3\'s, can\'t beat the bang for buck on thelatter. I had the RS3\'s installed prior to my Tail of the Dragon road trip. Idrove from Chicago to St. Louis to Deals Gap and back obviously, the tires weresmooth, quiet and tracked straight down the hwy. I was confident in a fast downpour, but did slow down to prevent hydroplaning. Once at the Tail of the Dragon we ran the 11 mile (318 turn) road spiritedly 4x or 44 miles... conditions - 90 degree temps, dry as a bone, very little traffic on Thursday. Route 129 is AWESOME, a bucket list item and it demands a lot of respect, your life and others depend on it. The RS3\'s grip was amazing, no understeer, stuck like glue on allthe turns and I could get on the gas out of most of the hairpins without spinning in 2nd! My setup on the 350Z is not stock... it\'s N/A, MT, 3.9 gearing, dropped 5/8", Hotchkis sways set to med(F) and stiff(R), 245/40/19(F) and 305/30/19(R) , -2.5(F) and -1(R) along with a 6-4pot BIG brake kit. It handled the Dragon well and the RS3\'s first few miles in gave me great confidence! I will definitely buy these tires again and I plan to cross-swap at half-life because of the symmetrical tread pattern (bonus!).
Review from August 4, 2015Rating: 8.75I swap to these tires mainly for track days and autocross. For autocross, they are extremely grippy in the dry as well as very responsive. Most of the other S2000s at the autocross in my region run these tires and swear by them in dry conditions. However in wet conditions, although they do have very good wet traction, they are probably not as good as the Star Specs ZIIs. I did a wet session during a track day and they did grip surprisingly well on a track that is normally very unfriendly in wet weather. These were brand new tires during the wet track day, so i\'ll be interested in seeing how they work out in the wet once they are about half used. I definitely recommend thesetires and given that these were slightly cheaper than the Direzza Star Spec ZIIs, I would definitely purchase these again and sacrifice the additional wet gripthat the Star Specs provide.
