Up for auction is a spring kit with springs, retainers and locks for for the KLZE motor. These are to replace the intake valve springs and retainers on the intake side of the KLZE heads. There are 12 springs, 12 retainers and 24 locks. This is enough to change the intake springs on both KLZE heads. The exhaust springs and retainers on the KLZE are fine. It is only the intakes that have the problem. These are not new pieces but I thoroughly clean and inspect these parts to look for defects. The KLZE retainers are known for breaking and dropping the valves above 7000 RPM. This is due to a very poor design on the retainer and spring combination. The spring diameter was increased as well as the retainer. However -the springs have less spring pressure due to the larger diameter coils and same thickness of spring wire. The retainers were increased in diameter without increasing the thickness. This made the combination much weaker and the weaker springs cause the valves to float excessively above 7k RPM. When the valves float -the cam lobes strike them hard as they come back in contact again. This sledge hammer action is what breaks the retainers that are weak to begin with.
The KLDE valve springs have more spring force and the smaller diameter retainers are more durable. I have run these springs in all of my KLZE heads ever since the discovery and have never dropped valves since. And I run to 8000 RPM quite often. So this is a proven fix for this valve dropping problem. It is not a guaranteed fix for all situations -because you can always push an engine too hard if you try hard enough. But this will definitely help improve your odds against failure. But
