This repair kit has been designed accurately for fixing the common problem occuring with the heavily rusting rear right wheel well on mentioned vehicles, often leading to the complete detachment of the upper shock mount. Casual result of this issue is shown on attached picture, where you can see the upper shock mount making his way through the floor of the car, exposing a large hole in the wheel well. Hundreds of Ford Escape and Mazda Tribute owners have faced (or will have to face) this serious issue on their vehicles. Other than this relocation kit, there is no alternative for those owners than going through a multiple thousands dollars repair to bring the car back to it\'s original configuration. This is due to the very particular configuration and position of the rusting panel holding the upper shock mount on itself, which an average mechanic will take no less than 2 complete days of work to replace for a new panel, still with the same original conception weakness. This bracket is precisely dimensioned to hold the shock absorber in it\'s exact original position (same compressed and extended lengths and angles), and makes easy techniques possible for sealing the opening against dust, stone and water. Any good body shop can complete this repair in about 3-4 hours of work. Simply bring this kit to your mechanic. Now, the best part is that, using BASIC tools and knowledge, you can DO-IT-YOURSELF in your own garage in about 5-6 hours, following the step-by-step installation instructions provided with the kit.
All you need is:
-Grinder with cutting disc and wire wheel attachments for cleaning off rusted material around the hole
-Drill with a 1/2 inch metal bit
-3/4\" wrench and ratchet
-Car jack and wheel nut wrench (you can use your emergency jack and wrench, follow safety instructions)The relocation kit comes with a step-by-step installation instruction booklet, with several pictures showing you how to position of the bracket correctly.
