The Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500 tire\'s name represents three eras of Firestone heritage while the tires themselves provide today\'s sports car, sporty coupe and performance sedan drivers with Ultra High Performance Summer tire proficiency. The Firehawk name is from the present where it is shared with the racing tires Firestone manufacturers to support today\'s IndyCar championship. The Wide Oval name comes from Firestone\'s first low profile tires that helped revolutionize high-performance street tires in the late1960s. And INDY 500 celebrates one of the longest relationships in motor sports where winning the first Indy 500 in 1911 and all of Firestone\'s other victories at the Greatest Spectacle in Racing have established a rich tradition backed by a history of performance.

Like all summer tires, Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500 tires are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, throughsnow or on ice.

The Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500 uses a high performance, silica-enhanced L.L. Carbon tread rubber compound molded into a directional tread design featuring large independent shoulder blocks flanking twin intermediate ribs designed to provide responsive handling and traction in dry conditions. Three wide circumferential and multiple high-angle grooves are designed to help water flow from under the footprint to resist hydroplaning and enhance wet traction.

The tire\'s internal structure features twin steel belts reinforced with spirally wrapped nylon to provide strength, stability and high-speed capability.

Even though this is a summer tire, it still drove like a M&S tire in the snow. I was still able to get around safely in 3 inches of snow covered highway.
Review from March 15, 2015Rating: 9.5Replaced the OEM Goodyear Eagle RSA tires. I have been very pleased with the Firehawks. They feel more solid (not as cushy/bouncy) than the original tires, yet at the same time they do absorb bumps and road imperfections better than the Goodyear tires did, giving a muchsmoother ride. They are much more sticky than the previous tires, they haven\'t once broken traction when the previous tires would have.
As for road noise, they do have more road noise than the Goodyears, but in all honesty its only noticeable when specifically listening for it (windows down radio off), and honestly I can\'t remember the last time I did the same thing listening for road noise from the previous tires.
Wet performance is great, definitely much better than the tires that I replaced. I don\'t know yet how well they will perform with respect to tread wear, but given the price if they last half as long as the Goodyears did, I would still buy another set.
I live in south Florida, so my tiresdefinitely won\'t ever see any snow, I was amazed to see some reviews complaining about snow performance, with a summer tire made NOT for snow.
Review from February 24, 2015Rating: 8.25These tires are wearing tremendously well. Not as quiet a former Hankook\'s, but the wet and dry traction has gone beyond expectation, even as tread depth has decreased. I am likely to stick with these going forward, particularly for the price.
