The Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500� tire\'s name represents three eras of Firestone heritage while the tires themselves provide today\'s sports car, sporty coupe and performance sedan drivers with Ultra High Performance Summer tire proficiency. The Firehawk name is from the present where it is shared with the racing tires Firestone manufacturers to support today\'s IndyCar� championship. The Wide Oval name comes from Firestone\'s first low profile tires that helped revolutionize high-performance street tires in the late1960s. And INDY 500� celebrates one of the longest relationships in motor sports where winning the first Indy 500� in 1911 and all of Firestone\'s other victories at the Greatest Spectacle in Racing have established a rich tradition backed by a history of performance.
Like all summer tires, Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500 tires are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, throughsnow or on ice.
The Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500 uses a high performance, silica-enhanced L.L. Carbon tread rubber compound molded into a directional tread design featuring large independent shoulder blocks flanking twin intermediate ribs designed to provide responsive handling and traction in dry conditions. Three wide circumferential and multiple high-angle grooves are designed to help water flow from under the footprint to resist hydroplaning and enhance wet traction.
The tire\'s internal structure features twin steel belts reinforced with spirally wrapped nylon to provide strength, stability and high-speed capability.

The original tires were Bridgestone Potenza RE050A and they wore out completely bald at only 16,000 miles. Yet the rear tires still have a lot of treads on them. So I decided to just replace the front tires. The ride is much much smoother (my CLA has a sport package that makes the ride rough to begin with), the response is still very precise, noise level is very quiet--these tires just makes my CLA feel more luxurious, yet still sporty asa German car should be. I had thought about replacing the shocks with Koni FSDbut looks like I don\'t need to. Now I\'m thinking about replacing the rear tires too even though they are still good. I cannot believe how much of a difference just two tires make. And the price is very good too. If you need new summer tires, these Firestones are it, hands down!

Review from July 7, 2015Rating: 7.71This was a great upgrade over the stock Goodyears. Much more responsive in the turn in with the Firestones then the GSA\'s. Can\'t tell you about tread wear, I don\'t drive this car that much, (no winters) They do flat spot easily overnight, but they clear up in a few miles. So far a great tire. I never had a set of Firestones, but I like them so far.
