The ExtremeContact DW (DW for Dry & Wet) is Continental Tire's Max Performance Summer tire developed for the drivers of sports cars, sports coupes and performance sedans. The ExtremeContact DW is designed to deliver good ride quality and serious performance on bothdry and wet roads. Like all summer tires, the ExtremeContact DW is not intendedto be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

ExtremeContact DW tires feature an asymmetric design with chamfered tread blocks and a continuous, outboard notched intermediate rib to enhance responsiveness and cornering stability. Continuous center ribs reduce noise and provide constant rubber-to-road contact to control the longitudinal forces experienced when braking. A high void-to-tread ratio with open outboard lateral grooves, wide circumferential tread grooves and notched shoulder blocks on the inboard intermediate rib and shoulder help disperse water to enhance hydroplaning resistance and wet weather traction.

It only had 8400 miles on it and it also hadthe original GY run flats. The handling, ride, and road noise were horrible. Today I had a set of Continentals from Tire Rack installed and it is a different car. Tracks straight (ie: no tramlining), smooooth ride, and negligible road noise. It is, in fact, another car....and really enjoyable and fun to drive.
Review from August 22, 2016Rating: 8.75My 2002 911 Carrera C2 does spirited daily driver duty as well as a few PCA autocross events each year. I have thefactory 18" wheel option. These tires replaced the Hankook Ventus K112 that lasted 13,137 in similar use. After the fifth run in yesterday's autocross I noticed a thin white line of tire cord exposed on the Contis rear driver's side tire at the upper part of the sidewall's shoulder below the tread where the tires roll over a bit under hard cornering. The next run showed more cord and by the last it was exposed half-way around the tire about 1/4 wide, so the Contis are gone at 11,517 miles. The fronts still have 4/32 left, but that works out to 3,840 miles, exactly 1/3 the life of the rears, so trying to install them in twos and eventually having them all wear out at the same time would take a while. TheContis drove well on the street; good response, predictable, quiet, good rain performance and I would rate them a little better than the Hankooks for spiritedstreet use. Besides daily driver use, I ran these tires in a DE at Mid-Ohio and in 11 autocross events. They were predictable on the track at speed, in braking, and cornering; no surprises. Their performance is similar in autocross. Iam replacing them with Dunlop Direzza Star Spec II because these are so much stickier on my Miata. I have been autocrossing my Carrera enough that I realize I am at the point where stickier tires will help my times. I have taken class wins on the Contis, so they are not bad, but have hit a plateau. In summary, I would recommend the Contis if you are interested in spirited street driving, but if you want the stickiest street tires for autocross, I recommend another tire.
Review from August 17, 2016Rating: 9.88On my second set of these. I can't rotate because different size fronts and rears on my 750i m sport. Could have gotten another 1000 miles or so but having 2 toddlers in the car I don't chance it. Way better than the stock run flats- I keep an inflatable tire kit in the trunk and these are half the price over the run flats. Good in the wet. I can shake them loose if I really want to but a good overall tire for FL.
