This is a brand new universal fit catalytic converter approved for California emissions. To pass smog, you will need to make sure you purchase the right universal fit converter for your vehicle. If you\'re in doubt, send us a message with your year, make, model, engine size, and engine family number (for vehicles after 1996). The engine family number can be found on the vehicle emissions sticker under your car\'s hood. A universal fit catalytic converter is an approved replacement for your vehicle\'s factory catalytic converter. One part number may fit many different vehicles, but it won\'t fit all vehicles. It may look a little different than your factory cat, but will function the same and be roughly the same size. To install a universal fit cat, you will need to cut out your old one and slip the new one over the existing exhaust piping. The ends will need to be then welded on or clamped down.
A direct fit catalytic converter is made for a specific vehicle, and will fit in place of the factory system. It is typically a bolt on installation, which is much easier than a universal fit cat, but it is also roughly twice the price. We also sell direct fit catalytic converters.
