You arepurchasing a REPAIR to your existing Cadillac Allante Power Window Switch. Either right or left side or both. The price listed in this ad is per switch. The free shipping listed is for the RETURN of your switch to you after repair. You willpay to ship the switch to me. USPS inside the US should be $7 or less for priority mail.

I will guarantee that I can repair your switch IF it arrives at my door in one piece and all of it\'s components are present. If I am unable to repair your switch I will refund your money minus the shipping cost to return the broken one to you. So far I have repairedover 120switches and have returned3 due to missing parts or damaged beyond repair. None of those arrived intact.

Even if your switch is in pieces, I can usually repair it, but I do not guarantee that I will be successful. You can contact me and tell me the condition of your switch or send me pictures if you would like. I have repaired some pretty ugly switches.

If your switch has been repaired before, it may fall apart when you remove it from your car due to broken clips that hold the switch together. When this happens sometimes the contacts inside the switch fall out and are lost. Be very careful removing your switch. If you do not have all the contacts for your switch I cannot repair your switch. See the picture of the contacts above. There are four of them in the Driver\'s side and two in the passenger side. If your switch falls open when you remove it the contacts often drop into the bottom of the door. You may have to remove your door panel to get them out.If you get the switch out in one piece, immediately place it in a zip lock bag to prevent items being lost.

I am repairing the window switches so that you can raise and lower your windows with your switch. If one of the little lights is burnt out I will not concern myself with those or with the memory switches for the seats or the door lock switches. This repair is only for the window portion of the switches. I do clean the entire switch and it has been reported to me that non-working door lock buttons began to work after my repair.

These switches are fairly easy to remove from the car. If you write and ask, I will send you instructions on how to remove your switch. Turn around on the switch is usually less than 10 days from theday you ship to me. I will send you my address when I recieve notice of your purchase.

The biggest problem with repairing these switches is getting them open. People frequently break the switches when trying to open them and sometimes completely ruin them.

I will test the switch and insure that it is working properly prior to returning it to you. However you must install it properly in your vehicle. This is not difficult to do if you have decent hand tool skills. If a repaired switch does not work, you may return it and I will verify if it has indeed failed. If it has, I will refund your money or repair the item. Your choice. So far the few switches that have come back to me were fine and the problem was not the switch. If you open the switch and then return it to me to put it back together there will be additional charges for this.

The switch is the most common cause of the windows not going up and down. However it is possible that you may have additional issues with your car. Typically bad switches will work intermittently. They may work only for the up mode and intermittently for the down mode. If your window switches do not work at all from either side or window, you may have other issues and the problem might not be your switch. I have added two pictures of the window circuit to help you determine your problem. I test all switches when I recieve them to determine their status. If you purchase a salvaged switch, it may be internally corroded if it has been sitting in a junk yard for a while. I can clean that up and get those working as well.

Complaints: I have gotten two complaints that you need to be aware of:

1st, if your passenger switch does not work or works intermittently and you decided to send me your Driver\'s side with the thought that the Driver\'s side will operate both windows, it may not. The circuit from the driver\'s side forthe passenger side passes through the normally closed contacts of the passenger side switch to operate the passenger window. If the passenger side contacts are bad, the driver\'s side will not be able to operate the passenger window. Also, on a couple of occasions a buyers passenger side switch that worked, failed shortly after having his driver\'s side rebuilt. I do not completely understand why this happened, but I repaired the passenger side in each case and it resolved the problem.

2nd, These switches were never intended to be opened and serviced. There are six tiny light bulbs mounted on the circuit bd to illuminate the buttons of the switch. See the picture above of the open switch. These bulbs are extremely fragile especially the tiny hair sized wires that run to the bulbs. Just the act of opening the switch and removing the gasket will sometimes cause these bulbs to break off at the wires. This is especially true if the switch has gotten wet several times and the wires have corroded. There is nothing I can do if a bulb falls off when I open your switch. I am sorry, but it is the nature of the beast. I am as careful and gentle as I can be when handling these fragile components, but it happens and when it does, the lighting for that button is lost and gone. It is possible to remove the circuit bd and solder in new bulbs and rebuild the lighting, I can do that, but it would cost three times what I charge for repairing the window portion alone.
