This thermistor, or battery temperature sensor, is used on 1995 1996 1997 1998 and 1999 Oldsmobile Auroras (the \"Classic Auroras\"). My best research shows that it is also used on 1995 1996 and 1997 naturally aspirated Buick Rivieras, 1995 1996 1997 1998 and 1999 SuperchargedBuick Rivieras, and the 1998 and 1999 Cadillac Seville.
DON\'T BELIEVE EBAY\'S COMPATIBILITY GUIDE! (It only let me list one year of one model!) If you have one of the cars I\'ve identified in this ad, or another GM mid to late 90\'s car that has a battery temperature sensor that looks like this, this should fit and work well for you!
The sensor is OEM; my research shows that this is the same as ACDelco 12156958, Airtex 5S6202, and BWD BTS12 .... all of which are no longer available new.
As shown, I am including the snap-on cover that helps hold the sensor up against the battery for proper temperature measurement.
Common problems associated with a bad battery temperature sensor include overcharging, undercharging, \"check charge system\" message on DIC, battery indicator light on, lights flickering. If you have had your battery and alternator checked, and you are still having any of these problems, your battery temperature sensor is a likely culprit. If you message me (\"Ask Seller a Question\") I will write you back to let you know how to test yours, before you buy. Easy to test, but you WILL need an ohm-meter.
