Remark: Stock manifold gaskets of the 3.1L and 3.4L GM models are prone to corrosion of the coolant passage. In response to this problem, aftermarket manufacturers have come up with an innovative idea of replacing the rubber wall at the water jacket hole with aluminum. The intake manifold gaskets in this gasket set employ this very same concept. They are reinforced with aluminum at the wall of the water jacket hole to reduce the rate of corrosion.
