95-99 Jetta Golf Instrument Cluster Tested 1HM 919 911A MK3 VW 1 812 012 474BProduct Description
The speedometer, tachometer, thermostat, and fued guage on thiscluster will work in any4 cylinder95-99 Jetta orGolf. However, I always recommend that a buyermatches your exact part number to ensure that the indicator lights all work as expected as those vary between models, years and the options the car has installed (ie. Auto Transmission, Air Bags, ABS etc). This cluster will NOT function as expected in a VR6 or TDI.I tested this in my 95 Jettato verify that the guagesall work exactly as expected (see picture taken while driving).I guarantee this will work for you or your money will be refunded.

Note: The mileage for a car is stored in the cluster and cannot be changed so when you replace the cluster, your car will indicate this new mileage.

If you want to maintain your existing mileage, as of November 2013, I now offer a service that will transfer the memory (including mileage) from your existing, non-working cluster to the replacement working cluster. There is no charge to you except the cost of shipping your old cluster to me. If this interests you, please send me a message using the "contact seller" button. (Do not just add a note to the payment or purchase since eBay does not highlight those notes for sellers and it will likely get missed). I will provide you a shipping address for your existing cluster. I normally can complete the work and turn it around in 24 hours unless I am out of town but I would let you know that ahead of time. Note that I will NOT ship back your old cluster. My motivation for providing this service free of charge is that it allows me to build up an inventory of spare parts and clusters that I can rebuild. In some cases, I may return your original cluster repaired rather than a replacement. In those cases only, you will benefit from a 6 month warranty in addition to the 2 week warranty on all clusters. If in any case you prefer not to have your original cluster returned, just let me know and I'll send the replacement with mileage transferred. Clusters that I have fixed are listed on eBay as "rebuilt." Clusters which have had no work done by me are listed as "used."

Installation

I posted a video of the removal an installation process along with a few tips:

http://youtu.be/1Yu0wtUg6W8

Basic Instructions. Replacement is fairly easy. The only trick is removing the headlight switch so you can get at the left screw that holds the instrument bezel in place. You first need to pry out the panel on the far left adjacent to the headlight controls (sometimes this is an ABS indicator). Once the left panel is removed, you need to use a screwdriver to push in a tab on the top left side of the headlight switch. Once that tab is pushed in, the headlight switch comes right out. Pry off the small panel on the right side of the instrument bezel. After that, it is two screws for the bezel and two screws for the instrument cluster. Once the 4 screws are removed, you need to pull the cluster out just a bit and tilt it sideways so you can reach in behind and disconnect the two connectors. Simply squeeze the top and bottom of each connect to release it from the cluster. NOTE: Do NOT try to remove the plastic shroud around the steering wheel! It does not need to be removed and 90% of people break the shroud when trying to unscrew the screws in the bottom of the shroud. You are welcome to contact me if you have additional questions on replacement.

On any listings after November 2013, I have tested all of the lights. This is not the case on older listings. In any case, I recommend that you keep the light bulbs from your old cluster in case you need them in the future. Note that the light green screws at the top are the light bulbs for illumination. The orange screws are light bulbs for indicator lights. The clusters will often have several of the orange light bulbs missing because not all cars utilize all of the indicator lights. Hint: This is a good place to store light spare light bulbs from your old cluster.

I leave positive feedback for everyone who purchases from me. I ship same day for purchases made before 6am eastern. I respond promptly to all emails so feel free to send me any questions before or after purchase. Thanks for your interest!
