This is for a set of four(4) new CNC Machined Steering Stop Bolt Covers. The BOLT is not included. Also known as a Groan Stopper Bolt Cover.
Fits any 86-95 Toyota 4x4 pickup or 86-95 Toyota 4Runner, or any model of T-100 pickup. These covers eliminate the creaking and popping noise that is heard when you turn the wheel to full lock while moving. This is only a fix for the metal on metal sound of the steering stop bolt at full lock. If you have other things happening with your vehicle such as CV joints, or ball joints creaking, this will not fix those issues.
These may or may not fit on 2wd trucks! Buy at your own risk!
Installation is very simple:
1) Inspect the A-arm where the bolt hits when the wheel is at full lock. It may need to be ground or sanded smooth to remove any rough edges. This will help prolong the life of the steering stop. If it is smooth you can skip this step. Remove the old plastic bushing on the steering stop bolt, if there is any left.
2) Turn the steering wheel all the way to the left and install the stop on the Front-Left and Rear-Right bolt. Tap the caps onto the bolt with a hammer until it sits into the recessed area of the plastic cover.
3) Turn the wheel the other way and repeat for the other two steering stops.
NOTE: You may experience a slight decrease in turning radius. I did on my own truck. It does not bother me at all, but to return to full turning radius just turn the steering stop bolt in a turn or two. The bolt has a lock nut that needs to be loosened first.
If you do wear through the new stop, rotate the stop to a new non-worn area, on all four bolts.
The photos are of my 92 4x4 Toyota pickup. When I first got the truck I thought something was seriously wrong when I heard the sound it made when I turned. I asked around, and the answer was always the same. \"Just put some grease on thesteering stop boltand thegrinding will go stop\". The grease does kind of work, but not for very long, and I got tired of applying grease. So here we are, I am confident you will be just as satisfied with these as I am.
