System Overview
Fuel Delivery System.
On most vehicles with gasoline fuel injection system, fuel pump mounted internal or external of the fuel tank. It control by the ignition circuit to fuel pump relay, when power supply to fuel pump. It and delivers high pressure fuel thru fuel line to fuel rail and injectors. Fuel pressure control and maintain by fuel pressure regulator.
Tech Note: Maybe a bad fuel pump will prevent an engine from starting. But other conditions can also cause no start symptom.
Tech
Engine Crank No Start we can verify that by spay a small amount of carburetor cleaner or throttle body cleaner into the throttle plate or into intake manifold as the engine is being cranked. If engine start up, it most likely the fuel delivery system is the caused. Blown fuse in fuel pump circuit, bad fuel pump relay, low fuel pressure, clogged fuel filter, corroded wiring connection, and bad fuel pump wiring, bad gas too much alcohol or water in the tank, no fuel etc. They all can prevent the fuel pump from running. Further diagnose is required before replacing fuel pump. Highly recommend replace a fuel filter while changing the fuel pump.
