    Modern air conditioning systems are more efficient largely because of improved condensers & compressors. Classic Auto Air’s high performance engine compartment upgrade kits serve as an easy way to replace your out-of-date leak-prone compressor & stock condenser with an improved high-performance condenser and rotary compressor to connect to your car’s original factory AC system.

    WHY UPGRADE?

    • Stop Annoying Shaft Seal Leaks. The original A6 compressors have a strong tendency to leak at the shaft seal if the air-conditioning is not used on a regular basis; sometimes in as little as two weeks of non-use! This will not be a problem with the modern rotary compressor.

    • Converting to 134a? You get everything needed to convert to 134a except the refrigerant itself. Highly efficient, direct fit, parallel flow condenser, along with a rotary compressor will help with system efficiency that is lost when converting your system from R12 to 134a.

    • Save Horsepower. Our rotary compressor draws significantly less horsepower of stock compressor; approximately 2-4 horsepower compared with 5-10 horsepower from stock.

    • Increase Fuel Economy. Less horsepower draw means better gas-mileage.

    • Save Weight. The rotary compressor is about half the weight of stock compressor/clutch assembly.

    • Running engine at high RPM? The compressor can handle 6,000 continuous RPM!

    *Hoses supplied with one end open, along with the corresponding fitting and cutting/crimping instructions. Your local hydraulic shop can provide crimping services, or we can provide the crimping service for an additional fee. Instructions for both options will be included.


    WHAT DON\'T I GET WITH THIS KIT

    • The original evaporator, POA valve, expansion valve and all A/C-heater parts inside the car will need to be reused.
    • Any part that contains refrigerant within it, will need to be flushed clean to prevent contamination of newly installed parts.
    • Warranty will be void if system is not cleaned of all contaminates.


    WHAT ENGINES DO THE COMPRESSOR BRACKETS FIT?

    • This listing is for models using the stock Big or Small Block Olds V8 engines with passenger side mounted compressor and factory A/C crank & water pump V-Belt pulleys.

    CAN I INSTALL THESE PARTS MYSELF?

    • The average hobbyist can install without difficulty. General rule of thumb is if you change your own parts, you can change these parts.
      It is recommended, however, to have the systemevacuated & charged by a professional.

    • No other specialized tools or knowledge is required for installation of parts, although it is HIGHLY recommended that you have a factory GM service manual specific for your vehicle.

    ***BEFORE BIDDING***

    • +This kit is designed for use with the newer 134a refrigerant. It is important to make sure the evaporator, POA valve and expansion valve are either changed or flushed clean and free of contamination before installation and charging the system.

    • POA Valve MUST be recalibrated for 134a to function correctly.

    • Please make sure the engine fits within the guidelines listed above.

    • Please notify us if your vehicle is modified in any way from it\'s factory configuration (alternative engine or pulley design, etc).
