4040 Rear Disc Brake Proportioning Prop Valve
Civic CRX Si Integra RS GS LS GSR Detailed Description *** Please read ENTIRE listing prior to purchase ***

D2:IP is happy to once again offer rebuilt/re-manufactured authentic Honda 4040 rear disc brake proportioning valves. We were the first to offer these to the eBay community starting in the middle of last year. Since then, we\'ve re-aligned our business strategy to offer many more high-quality re-manufactured parts, so please take a moment to read the \"About D2:IP\" profile section below.

Our innovative rebuild process starts with the dis-assembly of the valve and all of its components. After a thorough cleaning, the internal valve assemblies are meticulously inspected for wear, corrosion, and then tested for proper operation. Any parts of questionable condition are replaced. The aluminum valve bodies are media blasted to remove all traces of foreign debris and oxidation. Next, the flat mating surfaces are sanded (aka \"lapped\") on a granite surface plate to ensure a good o-ring seal during re-assembly.

***Please take notice that the pictures below show TWO DIFFERENT STYLES of mounting bracket. There is also a picture that shows the mounting brackets by themselves. It details the different applications that are available. You MUST let us know which bracket you would like during or immediately after checkout. We assemble each valve per order so you need to let us know ASAP which bracket you want. For OBD2 vehicles (\'96-\'00 Civic and \'96-\'01 Integra), you can use either type of bracket since the valve must be custom mounted to the firewall. The flat, firewall-mounted OBD2 prop valves are non-serviceable!***

As a final step, one which is unique to all aluminum parts that we sell, each valve half is chemically treated to prevent oxidation using a chemical film immersion process called Iriditing. The picture below shows each valve half in the final stage of this multi-step process. (NOTE: The other part in the tank is a lower VTEC solenoid valve body... check out our other listings for those and many more superior-quality rebuilt parts).

What\'s inside your prop valve?

Checkout these interesting photos below. This valve was said to have been taken from a so-called \"excellent condition\" / \"low mileage\" vehicle that had brake fluid changes at its scheduled intervals. Regardless of whether or not that\'s actually true, we have found that AT BEST, only about 10% of the prop valves that we have taken apart didn\'t really need to be rebuilt. That means the other 90% absolutely needed to. You decide if its worth the chance of getting one that looks like this on the inside and if you want to drive your family around with this gunk in your brake system components... In addition, I can tell you that there\'s approximately a dozen specialty tools (some of which had to be fabricated) that are required to safely service these prop valves; so its not like you can easily tell what yours looks like on the inside. Comparatively, looking at the prices for these \"right off the car\", it would be penny-wise/dollar-foolish not to buy one from D2:IP.

_-=[ About D2:IP ]=-_

D2:Innovative Performance is a father and son outfit that was founded out of passion for automotive performance & enthusiasm for proper maintenance. A firestorm of ideas for potential products was ignited by our own need for high quality re-manufactured parts at reasonable prices. After much research & forethought, it was ultimately decided to specialize in bringing lightly-used parts back to life -- with emphasis on offering harder-to-find items at prices that make buying brand new not worthwhile. In fact, many of the items we offer are no longer available directly from their OE manufacturers.

Too often in the automotive aftermarket, prices dictate quality. Having first-hand experience with the unsatisfactory quality of \"Made in China\" options only solidified our belief that the direction in which we were heading was a much-needed one.

D2:IP operates out of an AS9100-certified aerospace machine shop after-hours. The benefits of this situation are easy to imagine. The first of which is a drastically reduced overhead cost compared to our competition. This has a direct impact on the prices of the parts that we can offer you, our customers. Just some of the assets that are available to us at this shop are:

  • A Quality Control/Inspection department with state-of-the-art measuring equipment & tooling (including a Carl Zeiss coordinate measuring machine, micrometers, calipers, bore & depth gages, etc.)

In most machine shops, the QC department is the hub from which all of the processes and procedures flow out to the individual machines. The same happens to be true for automotive remanufacturing businesses and having this asset is very important as well as unique to D2:IP. It allows us to more precisely determine which part details need to be replaced and which will continue to function as intended. For example, often times it is not necessary to order a COMPLETE rebuild kit for a turbocharger. We take the time to measure critical clearances as well as gauge the condition of assembly hardware to get a more accurate list of what needs to be replaced on a given project. In-turn, we pass all monetary savings on to our customers. This is one of the main reasons why we can afford to offer such low prices for our high-quality parts.

  • Part finishing equipment such as vibra-finishers, media blast cabinets & a monthly-titrated chromate chemical film processing area.

This multi-step surface treatment process is another asset that D2:IP has at its disposal which our competition does not. The process chemically enhances the surface of most types of aluminum alloys to block the effects of oxidizing agents. In a nutshell, this means that our parts look the way you receive them for years without immediately getting that white powdery-looking oxidation.

  • 3, 4 & 5-axis capable vertical, horizontal & manual milling machines, lathes and EDM area.

We use the accuracy of computerized numerical control (CNC) equipment as necessary to ensure high-quality fixes and/or manufactured components. I know of a lot of shops that have only a drill press and belt sander at their disposal. Imagine the quality you get from them...

  • Fully stocked shipping & packaging department.

The benefits of this should be a no-brainer, but if you need to hear it, we again can pass on monetary savings to our customers by not over-charging for shipping & handling costs. Since we often sell heavy and/or irregular-shaped products, we do not have to look all around for custom packaging materials. We have everything we need already ahead of the sale, which gets you your product sooner.

Having available to us -- everything a good automotive rebuilder company should have all under one roof -- and for a much less out-of-pocket expense, allows us to provide our customers innovative products at prices that seem \"too good to be true\". When dealing with D2:IP ... you need not compromise any longer ...
