1982-1994 First Generation (Square Body) S10 Manual Brake Conversion Kit

This S10 manual brake conversion kits comes with:

The adapter plateis CNC machined by a water jet from rigid 1/8” thick aluminum with dimensions that covers up the hole in the firewall after you remove the power booster. This modification will clean up your firewall by getting rid of the big, bulky power booster. Racers do this swap when their engine does not make enough vacuum to operate the power booster, to shed a few pound to make their car lighter, or to clean up the engine bay.The pro-touring fans use manual brakes to get a better “feel” of their brakes when heading into a corner at a high rate of speed.The adapter plate can also be polished up to a mirror finish if needed.


Remember:

  • Higher Pedal Ratio = Less Leg Effort = Increased Braking Performance
  • Smaller Bore Master Cylinder = Higher Fluid Pressure = Increased Braking Performance
  • Kit comes with a gasket matchedto the adapter plate to seal the passenger compartment from the engine bay.The otherkits do notoffer a gasket in their kits.
  • Kit comes with a dual bolt pattern to run different master cylinders from GM, Ford, and MOPAR. The other manual brakes kits do not have this feature.
  • Kit comes with the correct size master cylinder that is matched to the size of the front and rear brakes. The other manual brake kits offer a larger bore master cylinder which generates less brake line pressure.

Parts toEnhance Your Manual Brakes on Your S10 Truck or SUV:

  • NON Low Drag Caliper (see below) - These type of calipers are manditory to work with the supplied 7/8" bore master cylinder.
  • 100% Organic Brake Pads - Organic pads perform better at lower temperatures than semi metallics and ceramics. Good for street and drag strip.
  • New Rubber or Stainless Steel Flexible Brakes Lines (front and rear) - Old rubber lines will "balloon" causing loss of pressure within the braking system.

LOW Drag Calipers
  • LOWdrag calipers came on ALL first generation S10 trucks and SUVs. These same calipers came on 1982 -1988 G-bodies (Monte Carlo, Regal, Cutlass) and 1982-1997 S10 trucks and SUVs.
  • NON low drag calipers came on 1978-1981 G-bodies(Monte Carlo, Regal, Cutlass) and 1998-2003 S10 trucks and SUVs with the single piston front calipers
  • All replacement calipers, with stock piston size, are rebuilt except for Brand New calipers by AFCO.
  • Replacement part numbers are the same for all vehicles that use these calipers from 1978-2003.
  • Replacement calipers I recommend are rebuilt Centric brand part numbers 14162065 RH and 14162066 LH
  • Or NEW (not rebuilt) AFCO calipers part numbers 6635003 RH and 6635004 LH
