DESCRIPTION
Dash caps are not a dashboard replacement. A dash cap is a rigid ABS, thin plastic cover that is manufactured using the original dashboard for the mold. Because it is a thin cover it will be hard to detect.
The dash cap does not require removal of the original dashboard.
This is a permanent, cost-effective solution for a cracked, peeling, deteriorating dashboard.
The dash cap comes in a basic black low sheen leather grain texture so it looks natural.
The dash cap will come with a tube of the silicone adhesive and installation instructions.
The cap will install in minutes over the original dashboard.
The dash cap requires no special tools and can be completed in minutes. We recommend that you dry fit the cap before applying the adhesive to be sure that everything lines up correctly.
All dash caps are manufactured in the USA.
We do not ship to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico or Internationally.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS- Please read the installation instructions carefully, especially about where to apply the silicone.
- Park your vehicle out of the sun for installation and in moderate air temperature. A clean and well vented work area is recommended. Please read and observe the application and caution labels on cleaning and adhesive products.
- Utility knife
- Windex or ammonia-based window cleaner
- Clean rags
- 3 or 4 rolls of paper towels or bathroom tissue to weigh down the applied dash cap
- Medium grit sandpaper
- Screwdriver
- Duct tape or masking tape
- Extra newspaper
Make sure you have the correct model by dry fitting the dash cap over your dashboard. Be sure it fits properly - does the glove box open?
Dash Caps that need special attention prior to installationThe following dash caps will ened a little more attention:
- 301/302/303/303D/311/1101 - Remove defroster pan (Phillips screwdriver required).
- 308 - Reduce width of glove box door approximately 1/8" with sandpaper or file.
- 406 - Remove the defroster pan (flexible screwdriver).
- 708/709/705 - Remove climate sensor.
- 1003 - Remove radio speaker grill - pry with a straight edge screwdriver.
- Most Mercedes - Remove the climate sensor air inlet sleeve by prying up with a sharp screwdriver.
NOTE: Most states require the vehicle VIN numbers to be visible and usually you will find an opening for this in the replacement dash cap. But this location can vary on vehicles, so if you need to make a cut to reveal this location this is the time to do it.
1. Warm the Adhesive
Place the included tube of silicone adhesive in a glass of hot water. This will soften the adhesive and make it flow easier.
2. High Spots
If there are any raised areas on the original dashboard, trim with a utility knife as needed in order for the dash cap to fit as close as possible on the original dashboard. Be careful to trim only the areas that will be covered by the new dash cap. Test fit again.
3. Surface Prep
Clean the dashboard and the underside of the new dash cap with alcohol or Windex along the outside edges and around the vents. All waxes and oils must be removed from both surfaces in order to achieve proper adhesion. Rough up both surfaces with sandpaper at the location where you are going to apply the silicone glue.
4. Apply Silicone Adhesive
Apply the silicone adhesive to the underside of the new dash cap around the perimeters of the air vents and the outer edge only. The bead of silicone should be about the size of a pencil head and approximately 1/2" away from any edge. IMPORTANT: Apply the silicone adhesive only near the outer edges and around the vents. Do not apply in any other location because it can cause cracking and/or warping and will void the warranty.
5. Ready to Install
Place the dash cap over the original dashboard. Push carefully and evenly in order to seat the new dash cap and to spread the adhesive evenly.
6. Replace Any Accessories
Replace any previously removed pans, grill or accessories.
7. Wipe away any excess adhesive with a damp cloth.
8. Secure in Position
Use rolls of paper, cardboard wedges and/or elastic cords and weights to hold the new dash cap firmly in position as needed for at least 4 hours to allow the adhesive to set and cure.
9. Unclamp and Clean
When the adhesive is cured, remove the clamping items and peel away any excess adhesive that may be showing.
10. Maintenance
If necessary you can use mild care care products such as a window cleaner or soap and water to clean your dash cap.

All dash caps can be painted before shipping in any of the SEM automotive vinyl paints. SEM high-performance paints are used to ensure a long lasting finish. The paint wlll not chip or peel!
Please remember when you are viewing the color scans below that there can be shade of color differences depending on computer monitor settings. Generally the actual paint will be lighter than what you see in these color scans.
We do not accept returns on painted dash caps – that us a policy that is true for every other dash cap seller also. If the paint you select is not what you want you can repaint the dash cap with any other SEM paint color until you are satisfied. SEM Automotive Vinyl spray paints are available at most local auto parts stores, Home Depot, etc.

All dash caps will ship within 1 business day. We will ship only within the continental U.S. states. We do not ship to U.S. Territories, Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico. We can ship UPS to Canada for an extra charge. Please contact us for that cost. Canadian shipping expenses do not include tariff, customs or brokerage fees. All dash caps ship in oversize boxes so UPS charges are based on size of the package and not the weight of the package. All UPS damage claims must be made within 7 days.

Prior to installation please inspect your order immediately to be sure everything is correct. All UPS damage claims must be made within 7 days so please contact us immediately if you have a claim. If there is a factory defect please contact us within 7 days for a replacement.
We do not accept returns on PAINTED dash caps unless an incorrect item was shipped. All other returns require and RA number for authorized return and must be done within 14 days of receipt in the original packaging. Any item returned without this RA number will be refused and returned to sender. All returns are subject to a 20% restocking fee to cover handling fees.
All returns must be in original, non-installed condition.
