1968 GTO Lemans Tempest Console Shifter
Included in this auction is a original GM Center Console Shifter for a 1968 Pontiac GTO, Lemans, or Tempest that is equipped with a center console and 2 speed automatic transmission. Use a different L bracket on the back and it will work for a 68 Firebird as well. It has been COMPLETELY reconditioned and the shifter lever has beenRE-CHROMED! Does not include the top console mount plate.
It has been completely disassembled, cleaned, worn or damaged pieces replaced, glass beaded, clear coated, reassembled, and lubricated and works like a brand new shifter. The shifter lever itself has beenRE-CHROMED and is in near show quality condition.
It has a section at the top that is scored (see last picture) from the fastening nut on the T Handle, but it won\'t be seen when installed.
The shifter housing is in very good condition with the typical light pitting, but cannot be seen when installed. Would give it a 9 out of 10 rating for performance and all viewable (when installed) areas. Don\'t take our word for it, check out the pictures below and judge the condition for yourself. Great finishing touch to any restoration.
