I've seen a few posts on the "fake times" page complaining about big gains with just bolt ons.

Everything attached to the engine is "bolted on", so what are we talking about? Spray? Programming? Lightening? Some people I've talked to say headers aren't bolt ons.

i have met people that call literally everything bolt ons. i consider bolt ons to be things that can be done with the vlave covers on. pulleys, CAI, TB (or carb), catback, a high flow cat...simple stuff.

i do not consider a turbo to be a bolt on...

the term is used pretty loosely...

I consider a bolt-on mod anything that is added that doesn't require going inside the motor....

yea, well... technically I suppose, but I would consider chaning the induction of the car to be quite a bit more work than a "bolt on"..... nitrous?

Bolt-on, Hmmmm...how about anything that you could do yourself with hand tools and some common sense? What if you can make the part yourself, and then bolt it on?(brackets, clamps,etc...),admin?

i have put one nitrous kit on a car, and i wouldnt call it a bolt on, as it was a bit of a pain..(zex wet kit). i consider a bolt on to be anything that doesnt require moving the intake or valve covers...but then again, by my own definition, a turbocharger, blower, or juice would be bolt ons...

bolt-ons are anything that only take a couple hours to do with basic hand tools IMO. Poweradders don't count either. now certin mods are "bolt-on" on one car are ont on another. For instance, my 98 was a bolt on car. But I bought a cheap set of PI cams and was able to swap them out in about 2 hours by only popping off the valve covers, heck i pull valve covers just to see if there is any buildup anywhere every 20k miles or so. But, changing a cam in a over head valve motor is much more intensive, but an LS-1 cam can be changed without pulling a valve cover off, but still mor invasive than a OHC motor.
