World’s Fastest Quarter-Mile Mitsubishi

February 2nd, 2017

Hello drag racing fans and aficionados! Say hello to the new king of Diamond Star Motors (DSM) 1/4-mile drag racers. With a best ET of 7.38-seconds @ 187.94 mph, Jeff Bush and crew pushed their slick looking 1993 Mitsubishi Eclipse (FMY401K) to the front of the pack in the dog-eat-dog world of DSM drag racing.

The new world record pass took place during the Haltech World Cup Finals Import vs. Domestic event, at Maryland International Raceway. The car, sponsored by English Racing and Extreme Turbo Systems (ETS) among others, was competing in the Street Fighter Class. Unfortunately, the team failed to clear the final rounds because of the high level of competition on hand at this particular event but we are expecting big things from them on the upcoming season.

It will also be interesting to see if the Red Demon comes back in an attempt to reclaim the title of World’s Quickest DSM. As you may recall, Red Demon (a 1996 Eagle Talon) took the WR with a 7.56-second pass @ 201 mph, earlier this year. It would really be great if these two teams could sync up for some heads-up racing action. Maybe the drag racing gods will smile upon us (lol).
