World Record C8 Corvette – Quarter-Mile Drag Racing

August 31st, 2022

Late Model Racecraft (LMR) showed up at Houston Raceway Park on Saturday night with a fire in their belly. These guys fully intended to smash the standing quarter-mile world record for a mid-engine powered C8 Chevrolet Corvette. They planned to accomplish this feat with their newly built twin turbo C8. Hang on tight, this thing is a beast.

This is the C8 Corvette Stingray with the 6.2-liter LT2 engine and a manual transmission. The engine is running a stock crankshaft with forged (upgraded) pistons and connecting rods. The turbochargers are from Precision and the custom auxiliary fuel cell with dual pumps is from Aeromotive. A FuelTech FT600 piggybacks off the factory ECU to keep those 1,500-2,000hp running in the same direction. Suspension and brake, as well as wheel and tire upgrades abound on this record shattering beauty. Enjoy!

Fresh off the trailer, the LMR creation posts an impressive 9.18-second pass @ 153 mph. These guys are just getting warmed up. The next pass nets an outstanding elapsed time of 9.03-seconds @ 157 mph followed by dual record-breaking passes of 8.95 @ 159 mph and 8.83 @ 160 mph (the current World Record).

Possibly the most impressive thing about this car is that it is a daily driver with full amenities. Truly an 8-second street car.
