Whipple Camaro SS vs. Nissan GT-R – Street Hits

July 7th, 2022

We are taking it back to the streets (of Mexico) tonight for some elite level roll racing on the interstate. The competitors are fueled-up, dialed-in and ready to unleash the thunder. Let’s go!

The Gen VI SS Camaro is one of the most complete American sports cars ever produced. Known for taming the Green Hell course at Nurburgring, the Camaro SS is equally proficient on the road course or the drag strip. Equipped with an all-aluminum 7.0-liter engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission, this version of the Camaro is extremely popular with street racing enthusiasts. This Camaro SS owner has added a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger, a full assortment of bolt-on aftermarket performance goodies and a performance camshaft. It is tuned to burn E85 fuel. Certain factory components have been removed for weight reduction purposes.

In the other lane is the Nissan GT-R. The best that Japan has to offer, the GT-R is a rear-wheel drive coupe with a twin turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 under the hood. Modifications to this car are unknown. The owner claims that the car is capable of producing 800whp. Time to prove it.

This contest will initiate when both cars reach 50 mph. The two stallions pull alongside one another and take the jump. The Nissan gains the early advantage and seems to be pulling away. Suddenly, the Camaro finds another gear and blasts past the GT-R, hitting speeds upward of 160 mph. Chevrolet FTW!

Great race and a great video.
