Vega Wagon – Big Block on Nitrous

January 25th, 2018

I love me some Chevy Vegas. I can remember when these beauties were everywhere – they were a dime-a-dozen. Now, you can’t find one anywhere and when one shows up at the track everyone acts like it’s something new.

Personally, I prefer the Vega coupe but this guy has put together quite a package with this station wagon. At the heart of this creation is an MDR built big block Chevrolet engine. Although aged, it is holding together adequately. What makes the longevity (more than two-decades) of this massive V8 extraordinary is that there is a kit of nitrous spraying through it. It ain’t anything fancy. It sure isn’t pretty but it does get down the track; quick, fast, and in a hurry.

After some initial issues with keeping the front wheels on the pavement, the ‘71 Vega body settles in to whoopin’ some tail. There’s a loaded field to get through – with several quality turbocharged cars in the mix. No doubt that it will be a battle but to the victor go the spoils.

This is some good, close NO PREP drag racing action from the Street Car Takeover in Indianapolis. It’s head-to-head competition that you don’t want to miss.
