Turbo Tahoe Tire Toaster
October 17th, 2017This is one bad grocery-getter. Shane Cook decided to take his full-bodied Chevrolet Tahoe and transform it into a 9-second (@ 135 – 140 mph) tire smoking monster.
This clip takes us from the dyno room (857whp and 832 lb.-ft. of torque) to the street and finally to the drag strip. Once Shane gets the Tahoe to the strip, he whips up on as many Camaros and Mustangs as he can find.
The Chuck Wagon (Cook’s) is equipped with a 5.3-liter engine that has been upgraded with a pair of ported 862 cylinder heads, a Tick Performance camshaft, and a Borg Warner S478 (76-millimeter @ 20 psi) turbocharger with a handcrafted turbo kit and a KB Racing intake manifold. It is running hi-test (old guy for premium) pump gas and a methanol injection. The transmission is a Yank Performance 3600 (stall) 4L80E and it sends power to a 10-bolt GM rear differential.
For increased stability and a lower center of gravity, the front has been converted to coil-over suspension.
