Turbo Silverado Gaps Camaro ZL1

October 29th, 2018

Greetings drag racing fans! Welcome to Street Car Takeover from the Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, Georgia. A fast-moving pickup truck has captured our attention and it is gapping Camaros, old and new. As a matter of fact, the way this Silverado is coming out of the hole, it’s going to be hard for any street machine to drive around him.

The feature vehicle for this clip is a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with a 5.3-liter engine (stock bottom end) and a VTR 83-milimeter turbocharger. It also has a Holley intake manifold and it is running E85 fuel. The truck is making 850hp at 18 psi of boost.

Roll racing is the first event and the Silverado draws a Chevy Camaro ZL1. The top tier Camaro has the 6.2-liter supercharged (Lingenfelter) engine that makes bookoo horsepower (650hp and 650 lb.-ft. of torque). Needless to say, the Camaro was not looking to get spanked by a pickup truck. Things don’t always go as expected and the pickup bests the top speed of the muscle car.

Next, dig racing is on the agenda. The turbo truck is putting up consistent 11-second passes in the 135 mph range. Let’s see how he fares tonight in the Street Truck Class.
