Turbo Chevy Pickups Take to the Streets

September 29th, 2017

Just in case you were wondering what good ol’ boys do on Saturday night…

How about bolting a big old turbocharger to your ruggedly dependable Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and taking to the highway (after a brief meet and greet at the Auto Zone in Mexico) for some roll racing?

These guys are serious competitors and they ain’t backing down from nobody.

The first Chevy (we’ll call it Gray), rolls out against a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 with a full accoutrement of aftermarket bolt-ons and a camshaft upgrade. We are talking about the top-tier Corvette. It seems like the ZR1 has the advantage but it’s a close one.

Next up for Gray is a Cadillac CTS-V with a camshaft and cylinder head(s) upgrade. Again, the Caddy seems to get the better of Gray but it is close.

Finally, Gray takes on a 750hp Corvette Z06. Gray goes 0 for 3 on the Z06 and lines up with an 800whp Mustang with twin turbochargers. No luck for Gray here, either. Oh well, it was a fun night of roll racing anyhow.

Gray takes on a few more competitors before the Red Silverado (we’ll call him Red) becomes the featured ride. Red is running a stock 4.8-liter with a 76-millimeter turbo.

Red takes on the full gauntlet but you’ll have to watch the video to see if he did any better than Gray.
