Turbo AWD VW Beetle Takes on Texas Streets

June 6th, 2023

Tonight, we have an all-wheel drive 2002 Volkswagen Beetle Turbo S that has been modified for street racing. The angry Beetle just happened to be in Texas when a rash of street racing broke out. Upwards of 100 spectacular street machines are on hand to make the crossing (into Old Mexico) for some raucous roll racing on the interstate. The action will be intense.

This Bug is rolling on an all-wheel drive chassis. Under the hood is a 1.8-liter turbo motor with a 6870 turbocharger. The bottom end of the engine is basically stock. The cylinder head has been modified to increase flow. Maximum output is estimated at 700+hp. The transmission is also stock.

In the first contest of the evening, the VW will take on a 5.0 Mustang with a ProCharger. Into the cool night air, a countdown rings out, “3-2-1” and both cars lurch forward in sudden acceleration. Despite mechanical difficulties, the Mustang proves to be more than the Bug can handle on this evening. Mustang FTW.

A sexy ProCharged Corvette is next on the dance card for our Turbo Beetle. The ‘Vette jumps out to an early advantage before the Beetle runs him down to take the win at the last second. This Bug has got the juice!

Tons more Texas street racing on this clip from 1320 Video. Enjoy.
