Sweet Pea – 10-Second Nova Sleeper

June 21st, 2018

In a perfect demonstration of “It ain’t how you look – it’s what you got under the hood” theology; this rusted-out and uglied-up Nova sedan can flat get down the quarter-mile in a hurry.

The dominant theme of this clip is that this below average (looking) Nova is virtually indistinguishable from any other oil dripping, brake squealing, gas guzzling grocery getter going about its daily grind. Here’s what makes this Chevy so special:

A 6.0-liter Chevy truck engine has been outfitted with a VS Racing 80-millimeter turbocharger and a Coleman Performance (you’ll get that when you watch the video) ice water reservoir. The valve body in the TH400 transmission has been reversed to prevent inadvertent neutral and reverse shifts on the column shifter and a strip of garden edging conceals the intercooler in the front. At first glance, nothing about this car says 10-second quarter-mile.

With all that said, this car comes out of the hole like a bullet (thanks to a trans brake). Don’t miss this one!
