Superstitious 2500HP Nova – No Prep Ride Along

July 15th, 2019

Greetings No Prep fans and drag racing enthusiasts of every variety. Welcome to the PSCA event (Rocky Mountain Summer Series) from Thunder Valley (Bandimere Speedway) in Morrison, Colorado. Meet Kelly Harvey, owner/operator of this stunning 1967 Chevy Nova. Let’s join our friend Brent as he takes us behind the scenes and inside the cockpit with Kelly during an actual run. Take it away, Brent!

First, let’s take a look at what makes this sweet ride tick. Under the hood is a billet 521 cubic-inch Brad Anderson HEMI engine with a massive blower. No expense has been spared as this Nova has the best, latest and most sophisticated driveline and electronics available. Vehicle output is estimated at 2,500hp – estimated because most dynos don’t operate over 2,000hp.

Let’s go racing!

The first pass is a ride-along (of sorts). Go Pro cameras are strategically positioned inside and outside the car to yield the most dramatic footage imaginable. Great work Brent. Adding fuel to the fire, the car gets seriously squirrelly about the halfway point and Kelly must drive through the skid. Wow, this guy can really drive. Great footage.

Kelly and the crew wrench and drive this old girl all the way to the Trophy Round. Did they take home the cash? Take a look and find out.
