Rocky Mountain Race Week (Day 1) – Turbo 1964 Corvette

September 17th, 2020

Greetings drag racing fans and welcome back to Rocky Mountain Race Week. This unique event pits competitors against one another in a battle of endurance and speed. Contestants will be required to compete on four dragstrips in five days (Tulsa Raceway park is raced twice). In order to complete the course, racers will need to drive more than 1,300-miles across Oklahoma and Kansas and post the best average ET in their respective Class. Vehicles will be broken, and friendships will be forged along the way. Elapsed time index racing is the program and there are numerous classes. Have a look at RMRW Day 1.

Out of the approximately 300 vehicles that entered this year’s event, the first vehicle to draw our attention was a 1964 Chevrolet Corvette. This thing was a beast with a built LSx V8 engine and an 88-millimeter turbo. It has never been on a dyno, but maximum output is estimated at 1,200hp. With its matte paint scheme and turbo protruding through the hood, this thing looks like something out of a Mad Max movie.

Next, we spotted the Reaper from Street Outlaws. He was plugging his daily driver; a late model Chevy Silverado pickup with a built (forged internals) 6.2-liter and a ProCharger. This is a very bad girl.

Then there’s the REAL STREET Toyota Supra crew. Running in the 7.5-second index bracket, these Supra monsters are the cream of the Toyota crop.

Lots more cars  and tons of great racing on this video.
