Outlaw Armageddon No Prep – 1600HP Supra

September 5th, 2019

Welcome drag racing fans to Outlaw Armageddon; the street car race that makes you prove you are racing a street car with a 30-mile cruise. This weekend’s action is of the No Prep variety and things are heating up in Oklahoma for Jared, his crew and their 1600hp 2JZ powered Turbo Toyota Supra.

Legend is that no import (powered) vehicle has ever won this event. Furthermore, imports are not highly favored in this part of the world. The idea of a guy in a 2JZ Supra beating all their domestic V8 powered monsters (and taking home the $15k prize) turned out to be not so popular. Oh well. You know what “they” say – You can’t please all the people, all the time!

No Prep racing is a matter of balance. You must find the delicate balance between power and traction. Winners build maximum horsepower and detune to find balance. You will need adequate power to drive around your opponent, but not so much that you knock the tires off and have to pedal down the track. The No Prep track is constantly changing.

Jared has enlisted the help of master tuner Jay Meagher from Real Street Performance. After struggling through Friday’s qualifying, Jay tossed and turned all night. Before the elimination rounds began on Saturday morning, Jay put a brand-new tune in the Supra using his MoTec controller. A new setup is always risky. Would Jay’s plan pay off or fail miserably and cost Jared at his home track? Check out the video to find out.
