Only Cadillac CTS-V3 in the Eights

April 26th, 2019

Yee-Haw! You folks like Mexico? How about lightning fast Cadillacs?

The Caddy featured in this clip is being hailed as the first and only CTS-Version 3 (CTS-V, produced after 2016) to ever dip into an 8-second quarter-mile.

While the typical CTS-V is quite a capable performance machine from the factory, this one is even more special. With a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that makes 640hp, Brembo Brakes, and an 8-speed automatic transmission, the V3 is no slouch – even in stock trim.

Houston Street Monsters does away with the Lingenfelter blower and replaces it with an improved F1A-94 ProCharger. The exhaust is equipped with an electronic cutaway so that it may be raced using open exhaust. Looks like a kit of nitrous, but nobody is talking about it. Must be a secret.

The initial pass yields an elapsed time of 9-seconds flat @ 158 mph. The car owner/operator is a bit disgruntled about the nine, but his hype man quickly reminds him that tuning is on the right track. An 8-second pass is within reach. Back to the drawing board.

After tweaking the 60-foot, the V3 makes ready for the money pass. Without a burnout, the car comes squarely out of the hole and posts an elapsed time of 8.90-seconds @ 159.01 mph. That’s good enough to call the evening a success and put the old girl back on the trailer.

I do love Mexico!
