Nissan 240SX – Quarter-Mile in 7.3-Seconds @ 187 MPH

January 11th, 2017

This one-of-a-kind Nissan 240SX has been dubbed the Red Rocket and is being touted as the fastest 240SX in the world. The real question that I want to ask is: Just how much of a Nissan is this Red Rocket?

Don’t get it twisted – a low 7-second quarter-mile pass at 187 mph is pretty impressive under any circumstances – but does this little rear-wheel drive coupe have a big American V8 pining away under the bonnet or has it remained stock to accomplish this awe inspiring feat? The answer is…neither.

Instead of taking the easy way to a low 7-second ET, and cramming a big LS engine between the fenders, this racer has taken a more unique approach. The Nissan mill is gone with the wind and a 2JZ Toyota engine has taken its place. The 3.2-liter inline 6-cylinder is built by South Florida Turbo & Engine (SFT&E) and includes a 76-millimeter turbocharger and a nitrous injection system. It has a Powerglide transmission bolted to it and it is capable of producing 1,400hp.

This is one bad Nissan. Check it out for yourself.
