N/A Vette Z06 Takes on Ninja ZX14 – Street Hits

December 18th, 2019

Once in a while, it’s refreshing to see a car that is built without power-adders. Turbochargers, superchargers and nitrous are great, but nothing accelerates quite like an engine built with the sole purpose of producing horsepower. In today’s environment of economical turbo and super chargers, this all-motor ‘Vette is making his mark.

The 2009 Chevrolet Corvette C6 Z06 has a (LS7) 7.0-liter engine. Internals are stock except for Diamond (14:1) pistons. Cylinder heads, camshaft, intake manifold and fuel rail are all Frankenstein. Fuel injectors are by FIC and the cold air intake is a Vararam. Exhaust headers are Kooks 2-inch and they flow into a Borla exhaust setup via a 3-inch Kooks mid-pipe. The TR6060 manual gearbox is by RPM and the clutch is a McLeod. This naturally aspirated beast is running a stock fuel pump and ECU, so revs are limited to 8200 RPM. It made 800whp and 600 lb.-ft. of torque on the dyno. He has Mickey Thompson rubber all around. This thing accelerates violently and sounds amazing. Take a look.

The Corvette jumps on a Kawasaki Ninja ZX14 (and others) and gets thoroughly gaptized (not surprisingly). Nevertheless, it sounds as good getting whooped as it does at the track and on the dyno. This all-motor beast is fast!
