Most Expensive GT-R Ever

August 22nd, 2019

The 2020 Nissan GT-R NISMO version will go down in history as the most expensive (new) Nissan to date. Affectionately named Godzilla for its prowess in racing and national heritage, the GT-R has long been the flagship of the Nissan lineup. With a reasonable sticker price and top-tier performance features, the GT-R is a favorite among racing enthusiasts of almost every ilk.

The 2020 Nismo GT-R will offer a few new items to justify the jump in sticker price. At just over $212k, this version of the Japanese supercar remains pretty reasonably priced for the segment.

New features include:

  • The twin turbo 3.8L V6 remains intact, but a special tuning program nets 600hp and 481 lb.-ft. of torque
  • Upgraded twin turbochargers are modeled after the GT-R GT3 racer
  • Carbon-Fiber is everywhere, including the front fenders and doors which have scalloped (functional) air inlets courtesy of the GT 3 race car
  • The specially tuned suspension is more capable than ever
  • Carbon ceramic brakes (with yellow calipers) make stopping fast and sure
  • Gross vehicle weight is down 67-pounds thanks to a carbon-fiber roof, rear wing, and other body panels
  • Special Dunlop tires, with wider tread and fewer grooves, deliver a larger contact patch and increased traction
  • Nine-spoke forged aluminum wheels are lighter and look great
  • Refined R (race) mode offers improved performance and a built-in memory feature
  • Exclusive NISMO seats look as good as they feel

Worth the extra dough or not? I’ll let you decide.
