Mid-Engine C8 Corvette vs. C7 Corvette Z06 – Dig Racing (Eighth and Quarter Mile)

May 1st, 2020

Finally, the long-awaited arrival of the mid-engine 2020 C8 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has come to fruition. At first glance, it appears to be all that was promised. The only thing left to do is see how it stacks up against the previous model. This video documents what happens when a pair of enthusiasts take to the streets of Mexico where they pit their magnificent machines against one another in dig racing. Eighth and quarter mile contests are on the card for this wild time on the mean streets.

The C7 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is well heeled with a 6.2-liter supercharged and intercooled V8 engine. Rotocast A356T6 aluminum cylinder heads and an Eaton 1.7-liter supercharger top off the big mill. The combination is good for 650hp and 650 lb.-ft. of torque. It has an electronically controlled top speed of 185 mph.

The new model C8 Corvette uses a mid-mounted and naturally aspirated LT2 V8 engine to generate 490hp and 470 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine is lubricated with a dry sump system. The new Corvette can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph on 2.8-seconds, according to Car and Driver Magazine.

The cars are all lined up. Let’s take a look at the video to see what happens next.
