McLaren 720S – Track Testing

June 6th, 2017

Join professional race driver Steve Sutcliffe as he puts this British beauty through its paces on a closed track.

From the 650S family of cars, this is the car rumored to be quicker than the P1. After driving the car to the track on some rough public (Italian) streets, Steve is rendered speechless as he challenges the 720S around steep corners and deep curves. The acceleration is blinding, the steering crisp and clean, and the braking is precise and effortless. No wonder our wheel-man is left without words.

The 720S is equipped with an all-new 4.0-liter twin turbocharged V8 engine that is capable of producing 710hp and has an electronically controlled top speed of 212 mph.

The 7-speed transmission offers Drift, Comfort, Sport, and Track modes while transferring astounding power smoothly to the rear wheels.

In addition to being more powerful than the 650S, the 720S is also lighter and more rigid thanks to a brand-new Monocage II chassis tub and added carbon-fiber elements; including the windshield pillars. This gives the new McLaren an improved power-to-weight ratio and an even nastier attitude. In track mode, this car is a beast but in Comfort mode it is meek as a lamb.

This is a well produced video with some of the most amazing audio imaginable.
