LMR Chevrolet Corvette Z06 – 1200HP Street Beast

October 14th, 2020

Late Model Racecraft – a leading Corvette modification firm located in the Houston, Texas area – is attempting something a bit different with this build. Let’s have a look.

It all begins with a C7 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. The Z06 package features an all-aluminum 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that can churn out 650hp. LMR has scrapped the factory blower and added a F1-X ProCharger. Nothing new for LMR. The departure comes primarily in the massive air-to-air intercooler setup which includes custom stainless-steel piping (3-inch and 4-inch) and the relocation of the stock oil and trans coolers. As you would expect from such a reputable hot rod shop, everything looks very squared-away with a distinctive “street sleeper” aesthetic about it. Question is: Will it make the necessary power?

Once they get the car off the rack and onto the dyno, the moment of truth it is at hand. By the fourth pull, the car is making nearly 1,100hp at the rear wheels on 26 psi of boost. Knowing that this beast has the potential to be turned all the way up to 30 psi, the project is buttoned up for a test drive. Buckle up, this is going to be a wild one!
