Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SV on the Dyno, AWD and RWD

Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SVHere are some dyno graphs and videos of a Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SV that was strapped down to the dyno to test what kind of power it’s putting down at the wheels in both AWD and RWD configurations. In 4th gear and completely stock form it put down 585 horsepower and 432 ft-lbs of torque at all 4 wheels. They subsequently removed the driveshaft and front differential that powers the front wheels and ran another dyno test and the car put down 602 horsepower and 440 ft-lbs of torque using just the rear wheels.

That’s about a 3% horsepower gain by disconnecting the front wheels which is typically much less than we usually see when comparing AWD and RWD setups on the same car.  Assuming the dyno was calibrated correctly for both AWD and RWD dyno tests to make direct comparisons, we don’t see much of advantage  to running the LP670-4 in RWD.   The increase in power and weight reductions obtained from removing the front differential and driveshaft will produce gains at highways speeds, but down low the car might have issues with traction turning it into one sweet tire smoking Lamborghini.

There are big plans for this car with the name changing to LP1670-SV after a set of monster turbos are installed, we look forward to seeing that dyno graph!
