King O’the Tailgate – Baddest 4WD Pickup

May 13th, 2018

If you are into quick pickup trucks, you are going to love this video. It features a GMC Sierra (Chevrolet Silverado) 1500 that is being billed as the quickest 4WD, gasoline powered, pickup in the world with a best pass of 8.6-seconds @ 160 mph (quarter-mile).

First of all; this is a stock body/frame with 18 x 12 rear wheels. Beyond that, owner/operator Raul takes us through the setup on this bad beast of burden. I has an LSx (376 cubic-inch) engine with twin 76-millimeter turbochargers and a TCI transmission. The combo is good for 1,300hp.

The competition will be stiff today. There are trucks here from Chevy, Ford, Dodge (RAM), and I think I even saw a couple of well heeled Chevy Luv entries. Hold onto your hats. This is going to be a good one.

The first contest pits Raul against a Luv truck with the unlikely combination of a 4.3-liter (Chevy) V6 and a Littlefield 471 blower. He is claiming 800hp but this thing is loud. If Raul can get past this conglomeration of parts, he might have a chance to win two classes before the day is done.

Check out the action. You won’t be disappointed.
