Head-to-Head 2015 BMW M4 vs. 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SSThe M4 is equipped with a 3.0-liter DOHC 24-valve twin turbocharged inline 6-cylinder engine that makes 425hp @ 5500rpm and 406 lb.-ft. of torque @ 1850rpm. The Camaro has a 6.2-liter 16-valve naturally aspirated V8 that produces 455hp @ 6000rpm and 440 lb.-ft. of torque @ 4400rpm. Both cars are 110.7-wheelbase coupes with 6-speed manual transmissions and the Chevy weighs 184-pounds more than the Beemer. According to factory specs, both cars turn the 1/4-mile in the 12.4-second range (bone stock). As tested, the Camaro SS cost approximately $35k less than the M4.

Despite the two cars being very similar in individual testing, heads-up testing proved to be slightly different. From a dead-stop, and through the 1320, one car was consistently quicker (winning 68 out of 75 passes). The advantage was credited primarily to more consistent launches and a more capable transmission. Check out all the action for yourself.
