GT-R Battle – Mercedes AMG vs. Nismo

July 18th, 2019

This clip features a battle of the GT-Rs; specifically, the 2018 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT-R and the 2017 Nissan GT-R Nismo.

From a sticker shock standpoint, both cars are reasonably priced (for supercars) at $160 to $200k for the real-wheel drive Mercedes and $176.5k to $177.5k for the all-wheel drive Nissan.

As one might imagine, both these cars are amply heeled in the area of performance. The Benz comes with a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter DOHC (32-valve) V8 engine that is capable of producing 577hp @ 6,250 RPM and 516 lb.-ft. of torque @ 1,900 RPM. The Nismo is equipped a twin-turbo 3.8-liter DOHC (24-valve) V6 mill with the capacity to make 600hp @ 6,800 RPM and 481 lb.-ft. of torque @ 3,200 RPM. The Mercedes has a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and the Nissan uses a 6-speed twin-clutch automatic. Believe it or not, the Nissan is 224-pounds heavier than the Mercedes.

Without further ado, let’s have a look as the Beast from the Green Hell takes on Godzilla. First up are the twisties. These two lucky driving enthusiasts take this pair of dream cars out onto some of the curviest canyon roads in Southern California. Next, they hit the track to finalize which of these cars are the cream of the GT-R crop. Have a gander for yourself.
