Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 vs. Audi R8 V10 Plus – Street Hits

February 3rd, 2023

Round Man Frank is headed back to the streets (of Mexico) for more roll racing action. This time it’s an import versus domestic throwdown between a Ford Mustang GT500 and an Audi R8. Both cars have been modified to enhance performance. The contest will initiate when each vehicle reaches 60 mph.

Built on the same platform as the Lamborghini Huracan, the Audi R8 features a mid-mounted and naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine mated to an automatic transmission. In stock trim, the A8 can generate 610hp and 413 lb.-ft. of torque. At a curb weight of 3,927-pounds, the all-wheel drive A8 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.0-seconds flat. Mods to the Audi are unknown but presumed to be extensive.

Representing the good old U.S. of A., the rear-wheel drive Ford Mustang GT500 comes from the manufacturer with a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine. The blown mill can churn out an impressive 760hp and 625 lb.-ft. of torque. In factory condition, the GT500 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.3-seconds and turn the quarter-mile in 11.4-seconds at 132 mph. The stock Mustang GT500 tips the scale at 4,224-pounds. This car has been modified with a Lund E85 tune and a catless exhaust setup.

It’s time to get these two thoroughbreds on the street and let ‘em run.
