Dodge Challenger Hellcat vs. Mustang GT and Mustang GT500 – Street Hits

June 2nd, 2023

This rare daytime street (roll) race features two of the most prolific mass production hot rods on the planet. The Hellcat and GT500 variants push the envelope of factory performance all the way to the edge of chaos. Today, we’ll see how they stack up against one another on the streets (of Mexico).

The Dodge Challenger Hellcat is powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI capable of producing more than 700hp. The big Dodge is slightly heavier than the Mustang at more than 2-tons. The question is: Can the Mopar keep up with the best that Ford has to offer?

With the potential to make more than 500hp, the S197 (2005-2009) iteration of the Mustang GT500 was the most powerful pony car ever mass marketed (at the time). Under the hood was a naturally aspirated 5.4-liter V8. Seen in this video is a Mustang that has been upgraded with an Eaton (Trinity) 2.3-liter supercharger, a cat-delete setup and a performance tune. This thing should be the hands-down favorite.

The third car is a Mustang GT with a modified 5.0-liter V8. Enhancements include exhaust headers, interior delete and an E85 tune. This is definitely the underdog.

Shall we get them on the street?
