Daddy Dave’s Monte Carlo Street Car Hits the Dyno

March 30th, 2023

Racing fans will recognize Daddy Dave from the Discovery Channel’s Street Outlaws series. He won a lot of races in a Chevy S10 pickup before switching to a Chevy II called Goliath. Featured in this video is the street car built for an upcoming project focused on true street racing machines. With the build near completion, it’s time to put up or shut up. A day on the dyno can either make you or break you. Dave awaits the results in nervous anticipation.

The Monte Carlo SS is riding on a stock frame with tubular suspension components and fully adjustable racing shocks. The steering has been changed to rack-and-pinion – not power. The brakes are full racing from Wilwood.

Under the bonnet is a 388 cubic-inch Dart engine block (LS format) with a set of Frankenstein cylinder heads and a Holley intake manifold. The assortment is put together by Thompson Racing Engines. A Fuel Tech FT600 controls powertrain electronics. Cramming copious amounts of air into the engine is a ProCharger F1A. Exhaust includes a set of stainless-steel long tube headers and Borla mufflers. The automatic transmission is a TH400 with a Gear Vendors electronic overdrive unit. Quick Performance is responsible for the Ford 9-inch rear end.

Without further ado, let’s get this G-Body strapped to the hub dyno and start counting horsepower. Think it will make it to 1,500hp?
