Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport vs Lamborghini Aventador Drag Race

May 16th, 2012

MotorTrend does a heads up drag race between a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport vs a Lamborghini Aventador on an airstrip.   While the Aventador put up a good fight running 10.6 @ 133 MPH, it was no match for the Veyron, the current king of all super cars.   The Veyron ended up about 5 cars ahead at the end of the 1/4 mile and it would have kept pulling away up to it’s top speed of 253 MPH.  They also ran the Lexus LFA and McLaren MP4-12C, but those both got beaten pretty badly by the Aventador.

Lexus IS-F on Nitrous makes 750HP

January 6th, 2011

We came across this Lexus IS-F running a super healthy shot of nitrous done by Titan Motorsports. The Lexus made 630 horsepower and 566 ft-lbs of torque at the rear wheels. Using a 16% drivetrain loss from the IS-F’s 7 speed automatic transmission, we come up with just over 750 horsepower for this 4 door sleeper. Other supporting modifications include a custom exhaust system, ported intakes and tuning. Considering that stock IS-F’s put down about 350 HP to the wheels, we can’t imagine this engine lasting too long, hopefully we’ll get some performance numbers before anything happens! Lexus LFA Dyno and Drag Racing Results

May 11th, 2010

Motor Trend got some time to benchmark a pre-production 2012 Lexus LFA by putting it on the dyno and running it heads-up against it’s only Japanese competitor, the Nissan GT-R.    On K&N’s DynoJet, the Lexus LFA’s Dyno results were 430.3 horsepower and 283.07 ft-lbs of torque to the rear wheels.   These numbers seem quite low since Lexus claims the LFA is putting out 552 HP, which means the LFA would have a 21% drivetrain loss.   On the same dyno, the Nissan GT-R put down 382 horsepower, which we know is quite low compared to many other GT-R Read More
