Twin Turbo Viper vs. YSi Z06 – Street Hits

September 5th, 2018

Welcome fellow street racers to Mexico for a night of elite level roll racing on the interstate. On hand are some of the most sophisticated (FAST!) street racing machines on the planet. Vehicles from all of the “Big 3” domestic automakers have turned-out, as well as a sprinkling of imports. Included in this distinguished group are an 850hp twin turbo (stock 5.0-liter engine) Ford Mustang and a 1,000+hp Vortech YSi supercharged Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Hold onto your hat as these two hit the highway. In the first pass, the ‘Vette encounters traffic and the Mustang takes the win. Pass number Read More

200 MPH Volkswagen GTI – German Half-Mile

September 1st, 2018

Greetings drag race fans and speed aficionados from every roll. If you appreciate the smell of racing fuel and burning tires, then you will want to check out this 1300hp Volkswagen hatchback. The back drop is RACE1000, a half-mile course located at Airport Magdeburg in Cochstedt, Germany. Denny Wimmer was spotted campaigning his 1989 Volkswagen (Mark II) GTI in the Unlimited Class. Having run more than 200 mph during last year’s event, Denny and crew are considered front runners to take the top speed crown. Nevertheless, you don’t see many VWs (in the states) that can run over 200 mph Read More

All-Motor LS3 Swapped RX7 – Street Hits

August 30th, 2018

Alright street racing enthusiasts; who remembers cramming big V8 engines between the fenders of a tiny Chevy Vega, Opel, or Mustang II? Those were the days. We could build a 5.7-liter Chevrolet engine (four-bolt mains) that could hang with anything on the street (roll and dig). The Vega, Opel, and Mustang II have all gone away. That leaves us with the heavier Camaro/Trans Am, Mustang, W-Body, and G-Body. Luckily, these days we have access to better power-adders – at unbelievable prices – than we could’ve ever imagined in those days. Nevertheless, it would be great if a blue-collar guy could Read More

Vengeance is Mine Saith… Ned – 1800hp Viper

August 30th, 2018

Vengeance Racing has developed a hard-built reputation as premier Corvette builders for their ability to wring power from the LSx platform. You can understand how an email from a Viper owner resulted in a request denied. He was courteously referred to one of the many Viper shops around the land. After more emails and repeated refusals, Viper owner Ned – not being a man who takes no for an answer – took a trip to Georgia to visit Vengeance Racing and plead his case to the powers that be. Being reasonable men, the guys at Vengeance brought the strange creation Read More

Lamborghini Huracan vs. Corvette Z06 – Street Hits

This clip is taking it to the streets (of Mexico) for some roll racing. On-hand to participate in these top tier contests that showcase mechanical expertise and driving prowess are three high-level supercar owners with their machines in tune. We begin simply, with a stock Lamborghini Huracan. Fresh out of the oven it has approximately 600hp and looks like a million-bucks. Next up is a Nissan GT-R with a built VR38 engine, Speed by Design SBD 100 cast manifold turbo kit, and a Drag800 transmission (AWD) by Jack’s Transmissions. Horsepower is rated in the 1,100hp range. This is one schweeet Read More

800HP DSM EVO 2 – Street Hits

August 29th, 2018

Scott brought his 1994 Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 2 out to the 2018 DSM Shootout in Ohio. As if the 235/60R15 M&H drag slicks (wrapped around 15×6.5 Volk T37 wheels), Angry Aero drag lip, CF bumper shutters, and EVO 3 spoiler didn’t give it away; when Scott cracked the throttle on this beast, we knew that it was some kind of special. Squeezing 800 horsepower from a four-cylinder ain’t easy. This 4G63 is put together with Arias 9:1 pistons and Howards Pro I-Beam connecting rods. On top is a Fox Lake cylinder head with Kelford 280s camshafts (Fidanza adjustable cam gears), Read More

Real Street Racing – South Georgia Cash Days

August 28th, 2018

Yep, this is South Georgia (Mexico) alright. The dragstrip is no wider than a pig trail. There are more pickups entered in the cash days than cars. There’s a PT Cruiser running a 350hp shot of nitrous and if Colonel Sanders stepped out of the bushes (which are very close to the pavement) with a bucket of chicken, no one would be surprised. Right off the trailer, we got a heavily modified Nissan 300z against a V8 Chevy S10 pickup. Both racers leave the line clean but the S10 drags the import for the win. Race two of round one; Read More

9-Second EVO – Dragstrip and AWD Dyno

August 26th, 2018

Ran across this crushing orange EVO 8 at the 2018 Diamond Star Motors (DSM) Shootout in Ohio. Kasey was understandably proud of this build and managed to put up low-nine-second passes all day with a best (ever) of 9.29-seconds @ 155 mph. Here’s the rundown on this awesome looking 2003 EVO: At the heart of this beast is a 2.3-liter 4G63 engine built by Buschur Racing with a Manley crankshaft and connecting rods (pistons are by JE). The cylinder head is a BZE (CNC) unit with a set of GSC Power Division S3 camshafts. An Extreme Turbo Systems (ETS) turbo Read More
